As I have mentioned this is a summer of change for us, empty nesters trying to reinvent life. There are many emotions that accompany this journey... some happy, some sad, some confused, the list goes on. That is part of the reason I love the theme for this summer, TRY NEW THINGS. Whether you have children at home, an empty nest or you enjoy the children of others, it is so invigorating challenging yourself.
My husband, a volunteer ski patroller during the winter months, had a team picnic last Tuesday. I was looking forward to attending, it was up the canyon where the air would be a little cooler and I didn't have to cook dinner (most exciting). The dinner and company was lovely. Before and after dinner they had different activities to try, Lane really wanted to do fly fishing. One of the other patrollers is a world class fly fisherman. During the summer months he is busy with different fly fishing excursions. And of course Lane wanted me to join him... however that wasn't on my list of New Things to try. Being a good sport and going outside of my comfort zone I decided I'd give it a whirl. I couldn't believe how much fun I had. However it does take a lot of concentrating, I wasn't as good at that.
Hope you have great adventures Trying New Things.
Happy Mixin,
Kerry
