Thanksgiving is one of those Holidays that can be easily overlooked or overshadowed by personal difficulties or the "busy"ness of the holiday season. Yet it can be the perfect opening to great personal reflection and happiness... I'm amazed at what I can find to be thankful for once I start looking.
Yesterday we hosted Thanksgiving for my husband's family. Not all were able to make it, but it reminded me of our Thanksgiving 25 years ago. Our first child, a son was born in the middle of October and we living far from home. My husband's family and their families decided to attend his baby blessing which would be over the Thanksgiving holiday. I can't help but smile as I think about those memories... 22 people coming to stay with us in our 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment. I had never cooked a turkey before, nor had I ever cooked for that many people. I remember shopping at Costco, holding a crying baby with a cart full of food that I could hardly push.
I don't remember how the turkey turned out nor what was on the menu, but I do love and cherish the memories that we made that weekend. There were so many of us, we even had little sleeping bodies under the sofa bed with just their heads poking out.
Our home wasn't as crowded this year, nor did they sleep over but my heart is still crowded as I think of the many blessings that I have in my life...and you're one of them. I don't think anyone could have better people to work with or nicer customers than we have. Thanks for being you!
Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful,
